    Operations Manager, Revenue Cycle

New York City, in office 5 days a week

    About Avico Health

Avico Health is a New York-based healthcare AI company building an intelligence platform for specialty drugs, connecting providers, pharma, and payors. Our mission is to accelerate patient access to life-changing specialty therapies, a $260 billion market crippled by tedious, disjointed workflows. Our AI automates the journey from diagnosis to treatment, including benefits verification, prior authorization, and patient affordability.

We've touched more than 2 million patient encounters, deliver best-in-class outcomes, and are growing fast. Avico was founded by an MD/MBA and serial founder, together with an AI/ML engineering leader, and is backed by Bling Capital, Perplexity Fund, Correlation Ventures, and others.

    About the Role

To ensure speed and accuracy, we pair AI with a trained team of prior authorization specialists, and we're looking for an Operations Lead to own the quality of that human layer. This is first and foremost a people management role: you will lead, train, and audit the team, hold the line on SLAs, report performance, and write the operational playbook. When a submission goes out under Avico's name, you made sure it was complete, accurate, and on time.

You're a builder who loves bringing order to messy, high-volume work and is happiest with your sleeves rolled up alongside the team. You move quickly, lead by example, and know how to get the best out of a large team while building a culture people want to be part of. Ambiguity doesn't slow you down; it's where you do your best work. As an AI-native company, we expect everyone to use AI tools thoughtfully, apply human judgment to their outputs, and keep building their AI fluency.

Location: New York City, in office 5 days a week. This is a firm requirement.

    What You'll Do

    • Lead the prior authorization (PA) specialist team. Hire, onboard, schedule, coach, and performance-manage a distributed team of PA specialists.
    • Own PA submission quality. Set the quality bar for every submission and be accountable when it is missed.
    • Run quality audits. Design and run a recurring audit program (sampling, scoring rubrics, error categorization, root cause analysis) and close the loop with targeted coaching.
    • Uphold SLAs. Monitor turnaround times, queue health, and escalations against client SLAs, and fix problems before clients notice them.
    • Report on performance and KPIs. Build and deliver regular reporting to clients and Avico leadership on volume, turnaround, first-pass approval, denial reasons, and error rates.
    • Write the operational playbook. Build the documentation, playbooks, and SOPs that let us scale, covering payor-specific and specialty-specific workflows so work is repeatable and auditable, and keep them current as payor rules change.
    • Develop PA specialist training. Build onboarding curricula, refresher modules, and competency checks, and turn audit findings into training updates.
    • Improve the product. Use customer feedback and your own observations of the team's workflows to identify automation opportunities and bring them to Avico's product and engineering team.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree
    • Early-stage startup experience is a must
    • 2 to 4 years of people management experience leading both hourly and salaried direct reports, with hands-on experience across the full performance management cycle: setting clear expectations, giving regular feedback, and guiding employees through formal improvement plans and hard conversations
    • Track record of running quality audits and holding a team to measurable SLAs and KPIs
    • Analytical, systems-oriented thinker who builds clear reports and has measurably improved turnaround times and accuracy
    • Experience writing SOPs, protocols, and training materials that others actually follow
    • Exceptional attention to detail and operational rigor; you notice the missing field before the payor does
    • Clear, direct communicator with both frontline staff and practice leadership
    • Experience managing remote or offshore teams across time zones

    Bonus Qualifications

    • Healthcare revenue cycle experience

    How We'll Measure Success

    • PA submission accuracy and first-pass approval rates
    • SLA attainment on turnaround time across every client
    • Audit error rates falling quarter over quarter
    • Quality of SOPs, training, and performance management systems you build
    • Client satisfaction and retention

    Compensation

$90,000 to $120,000 base salary, plus a performance-based bonus and equity. Benefits including health and dental insurance.
